The Durham Police Department on Friday arrested a 17-year-old boy wanted for attempted murder and kidnapping.
Officers responded to the 900 block of Burch Avenue Friday around 5:52 p.m. to a Jeep that matched the description of the wanted vehicle.
Sky 5 captured the scene as police officers chased the vehicle through Durham County.
When officers attempted to stop the car, he fled from the scene which lead to a chase that lasted for about 20 minutes. The Durham County Sheriff’s office and State Highway Patrol assisted police officers during the pursuit.
Sheriff’s deputies used stop sticks on Stagville Road near Joe Ellis Road to stop the vehicle. Just before 6:30 p.m. the male driver got out of the vehicle with his hands up.
Law enforcement officers took him to the ground and put him in handcuffs.
After the 17-year-old was loaded into the police car, law enforcement officers used a K-9 to check the vehicle. A gun was found in the car.
He is being charged with fleeing to elude, hit-and-run, driving with a revoked license, and possessing a firearm as a minor. He was also served with warrants for attempted murder and kidnapping in connection with a case in Alamance County.
